Living in SK
When I first stepped off the plane, I felt like I had taken the express flight to Wonderland, a very Hangul-inspired Wonderland. Now that I’ve been here a few months, it’s hard to believe that I ever approached my first taxi and bus rides with something akin to anxiety, and that I left those everyday, mundane contraptions with feelings of delighted triumph. Nevertheless, I did have those moments of wonder that I managed to semi-successfully navigate around a foreign place, attempting to read signs whose lettering I couldn’t distinguish from ancient Greek ceramics. I still have those moments, and no matter how long I stay here I know I will always have those moments. This page is a place for a little advice, a little insight and some daily commiseration with the ups and downs that I’ve encountered as a foreigner living in Ulsan; no doubt your own tales will inspire some sympathetic laughter and head shakes along the way.
